On the first Friday of each month, Bandcamp waives their revenue share to help support artists who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by the pandemic. In honor of today, we at For The Culture Zine created a list of artists/bands that you can consider supporting today.
A. BILLI FREE
A. Billi Free is a vocalist, emcee, and beat maker based in New Mexico. Her music is a mix of hip hop, soul, and electronica. A. Billi Free teamed up with Chicago-based producer Uncle El to create Blk Mgc Symbol EP. “Fire” is a stand out track that truly brings the heat. It’s got a killer House beat that pairs well with A. Billi Free’s vocals. “Queen II”, another highlight, has that old school hip-hop vibe that really shows off her strong lyricism as a rapper.

SENSELESS OPTIMISM
Senseless Optimism’s style is described as dreamy bedroom pop with a taste of jazz. Her influences include Fela Kuti, Nirvana, and Black Sabbath. The Massachusetts-based artist has been steadily releasing music since 2020. Her latest release, “Why?”, is a soulful track inspired by heartbreak. “Dreamland” shows off her impressive jazz-bluesy vocals.
Her Bandcamp allows you to name your price when it comes to downloading her music. Make sure to show her discography some love and support her the best you can financially.
JAY DIGGS
Have you ever wondered what the Pokemon theme song would sound like if it had a disco remix? Well you no longer have to wonder thanks to R&B/Pop singer, producer, and songwriter Jay Diggs. His latest release “Pokemon – Disco Version” is available for purchase on Bandcamp, as well as a funk version of “WAP”. Not only does Diggs have groovy covers of popular songs, he also has original music that deserves to be talked about, such as “Both Ways (feat. Zyodara)” which is an 80s-inspired funk R&B track with a catchy hook. Sit back and let Jay Diggs lead you into his funk paradise.
LIV.E
Liv.e is a producer and singer/songwriter from Dallas, Texas. She’s known for blending R&B, jazz, soul, and hip hop to create her own unique sound. Her latest release, CWTTY+ EP, celebrates the one year anniversary of her debut album, Couldn’t Wait to Tell You, by bringing us 6 unreleased songs as an extension to her project. The opening track, “_21”, is a laidback neo-soul influenced track that vocally feels reminiscent of Erykah Badu.
